The Indigenous Sports Circle NWT (ISCNWT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening community wellness through sport, recreation, and cultural programming across the Northwest Territories. ISCNWT works to build vibrant and inclusive opportunities that reflect the diverse Indigenous communities we serve.
We’re currently looking for passionate, community-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you have a strong interest in advancing sport, recreation, and cultural development in the North, we want to hear from you.
Available Board Positions (3 year terms)
Beaufort Delta Director Applicants must reside in the Beaufort Delta Region as defined by ISCNWT bylaws.
Sahtu Director Applicants must reside in the Sahtu Region as defined by ISCNWT bylaws.
Youth Director Applicants must be between the ages of 15–25 and reside in the NWT.
What to Expect
Serving on the ISCNWT Board is a volunteer commitment. Board members meet 6–8 times per year via teleconference, along with two in-person gatherings annually—typically one in November and another in the spring or summer. Members may also be asked to participate in committees or working groups, and are encouraged to support ISCNWT activities beyond formal meetings.
Requirements
Applicants must be residents of the NWT
Applicants must be of Indigenous ancestry as defined by the Aboriginal Sports Circle National body
Previous volunteer experience is considered an asset
Experience in sport, recreation and cultural activities is consider an asset
Experience with finance, board of governance, policy and no-profit groups is considered an asset
Ability to mee the time commitments of regularly attending board meetings
